Gender Inequality During The United States - 1971 Words

Corona 1 Yailin Corona Honors English 11-4 Junior Research Paper 3 March 2016 Gender Inequality in the U.S. For years, women have been viewed as weak, indecisive, and subjective. Women have become more empowered since their suffrage and earning their rights. Although, they have their rights, women are not equal to men in today’s society because of unequal pay and discrimination. The pay between the two gender in recent college graduates and stabilized jobs opt towards males. Women are discriminated in sports, entertainment , and politics in multiple ways. Also, the ratios between men and women in corporate offices, the entertainment business, and political positions is off balance, in favor of men. Currently, there is†¦show more content†¦The gap shows that men have a higher paycheck than of women even though they’ve both graduated at the same time and are applying for the same job opportunity. Female M.B.A. graduates earn an average $4,600 dollars less than their male classmates for their first jobs (Lipman). That amount of money can buy a car or to pay student loans. Men earn more for the exact same degree that women earn during the same time period. Female doctors and surgeons earn 71 percent of what their male colleagues earn, and female financial specialists are paid 66 percent compared to men (Lipman). The amount female doctors make is less than three-quarters of what men make for the exact same job. The pay for female financial specialists is even less than that of female doctors and surgeons.Female doctors are earning 70 cents to a man’s full dollar and female financial specialists earn 65 cents to a man’s dollar. Both have large pay ga ps between the two genders for important jobs in today’s society. Also, an â€Å"analysis showed that men who were passed over for a partnership were routinely offered retention bonuses to keep them from quitting. Women weren’t† (Lipman). Men are being given more money than women, even though they’re earning more money than women. Both genders put in effort to earn the degrees for their jobs and work hard to keep them, but not so one gender can be overpowered by the other.
